National Guideline on Management of Leptospirosis

The Epidemiology Unit is working on strengthening the Leptospirosis death review process at the institutional level, with a focus on comprehensive data analysis for evidence-based decision-making at the National level. To facilitate this, heads of institutions are instructed to adhere to specific steps starting from January 1, 2024. These steps include notifying Regional Epidemiologists and the Epidemiology Unit of all suspected leptospirosis deaths, providing detailed information, completing a death investigation form, sending relevant documents related to patient management, and conducting institution-level reviews. The responsibility for these activities lies with the head of each institution, with assistance from Regional Epidemiologists for coordination, to ensure reporting and investigation of every suspected leptospirosis death for national surveillance purposes.
